RIDING LESSONS EXPLAINED

We offer riding lessons for all experience levels from beginner through advanced. You do not need any prior knowledge of horses in order to start taking riding lessons with us at Conquest Farms.

* In order to protect our horses and the longevity of our program, we have established a maximum jumping height of 2' for all of our lesson horses. For students looking to advance beyond the height of 2', we are happy to discuss lease and purchase options for those interested.

  • Payment is due at or prior to your riding lesson.

  • For new students, pre-payment is required for booking.

  • We have a 24-hour notice cancellation policy for all riding lessons. No exceptions.

  • No-Show individual lessons (not in a package) have a $20.00 missed lesson fee.

  • Riding lessons are by appointment only.

  • Only those in lesson packages can expect to hold their lesson spot week to week. If you would like to reserve the same time every week, you will need to purchase a lesson package.

  • We only offer 30-minute lessons to those that can get ready on their own, and are able to be ready and mounted at the start of the lesson time. Any time needed to help groom/tack comes out of your riding time, with no exceptions.

  • Those capable of getting ready on their own should arrive 30 minutes early in order to do so.

  • Riding lessons are rain or shine. In the event of dangerous weather, the barn will contact you regarding rescheduling/canceling. Any lessons rained out will be continued on the ground in the form of a Horsemanship lesson.

LESSON PACKAGES EXPLAINED

Lesson packages are a great deal for riders with long-term goals. With lesson packages, you save on lessons each month, hold your weekly spot, and can even set up auto-pay.

  • Payment is due by the 1st of the month.

  • Packages not paid for by the 2nd of the month will lose their spot and be charged individual lesson prices.

  • Lesson packages must be used in the month they are purchased for and cannot be held or rolled over for a different month.

  • There are no refunds on lesson packages for any reason.

  • Lesson Packages are non-transferable.

  • 24-Hour cancellation notice still applies to each lesson, with no exception.

  • Packages are good for the entire month, even if there are five weeks in a month.

  • There is one makeup lesson per month for each package. If you know that you need to reschedule in advance, please let us know.

  • If there are five weeks that month and a lesson is canceled for any reason, a makeup lesson will not be scheduled for the fifth lesson.

  • Makeups must be finished within the same month, and do not roll over into the next month's riding package.

  • Missed makeup lessons cannot be rescheduled.

HORSEMANSHIP EXPLAINED

Horsemanship is a critical part of any equine education.

In Horsemanship classes, we learn as much as we can about horses and all aspects of their care including but not limited to:

  • Parts of the horse, saddle, and other equipment

  • The health of the horse including illness and injury, and what to do during those situations.

  • Nutrition, hay, and supplements

  • Barn care, such as cleaning stalls and pasture care

  • Riding theory and practicing riding skills on the ground, an integral part of learning for every rider.

  • Barn management skills

  • Safety and handling on the ground, including lunging

  • How to clean and care for tack and equipment

  • Vet and farrier care, what they do, and why it is so important.

And many other subjects, topics, and skills. We recommend Horsemanship lessons to all students, especially those looking to lease or own a horse of their own in the future.

LEASING EXPLAINED

Leasing is a great way to spend time outside of lessons enjoying the horses, and it can be an excellent way to know if you're ready for horse ownership. With leasing, you purchase a set number of weekly rides. In addition to those ride days, a minimum of one riding lesson per week is required. You can choose to incorporate your lesson as one of your riding days or have that lesson on a separate day. Lessons are not included in your lease. Jumping is not permitted outside of riding lessons without permission of your instructor.

  • Payment is due by the 1st of every month. 30 days written notice is required to terminate a lease.

  • In part or half lease your horse may still be used in riding lessons.

  • Only in a Full Lease, do you have full and private access to the horse.

  • We can provide all the necessary equipment for the horse, or you are welcome to provide your own. If providing your own tack, it must be approved by our instructor prior to use.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What types of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, Zelle, Credit Cards, and ACH payments. In the tack room on the fridge is a full list of updated payment information and all payment details.
  • Do I need any prior horse experience to take riding lessons?
No. We cater to both the inexperienced and the experienced.
  • Are there any age requirements for riding lessons?
While we do not have a maximum age for students, we find that students are best suited to start lessons after the age of 6. Each student is an individual, and some can start at a younger age and others may need to start a bit later. For the little ones not quite ready for lessons, we do offer 15 minute pony rides for $20.00.
  • What do we need to get started?
If you've never ridden before we recommend that you keep things simple. You will need: - Long pants such as jeans or leggings. - Boots with a low heel. Inexpensive work boots are just fine. No open-toed shoes or sneakers are permitted for riding. - An approved riding helmet, which is certified at minimum ASTM-SEI safe. Bicycle helmets are not permitted. If you do not have a riding helmet, we can provide one for the first four lessons. After that, you will need to purchase your own ASTM-SEI riding helmet for a higher degree of safety. - A refillable container for water. We have a water cooler in the tack room, and a refrigerator for students to use for food and drink. - An adult or guardian present to sign our liability waiver.
  • Can I bring my dog to the farm?
Dogs are welcome on leash as long as they are friendly, don't chase horses, are good around children, and well mannered.
