OUR FARM

Conquest Farms started as an idea in October 2005. Soon after purchasing my first horse, Fortunate Conquest, I knew that if someday my dream of opening a farm of my own would come true that I would name it after him. 14 years later that dream came true, and Conquest Farms changed from an idea into a reality.

What was once an idea is now a 16-acre family-owned and operated farm in Clermont Florida. Once entirely orange groves before being wonderfully watched over for many years by the Cogley family, this beautiful land is now a place where the next generation of riders learns to share in the love of horses while furthering their riding skills.

We are passionate about teaching, caring for horses, and learning to be stewards of the land entrusted to us.

COURTNEY

Owner, Manager, Instructor

Courtney's love-affair with horses began when she was just 3 years old, and she has never looked back. Growing up, Courtney could be found in the local riding school, grooming, feeding, cleaning stalls, and riding.

At the age of 12, Courtney began apprenticing to become a riding instructor in the junior program, and spent six years learning under a number of instructors and professionals. It was during this time that Courtney had dreams of competing in the Young Riders Dressage competitions, but her instructors' horse sadly became injured and was unable to compete.

Soon after her 18th birthday, Courtney sat and passed the Massachusetts state agriculture exam to be licensed as a state-certified riding instructor. She continued, along with showing horses in various disciplines, to apprentice and study under various riders, trainers, and instructors in both Massachusetts and later Florida after moving south in 2006.

Courtney shadowed professional grooms, worked in show and breeding stables and trained alongside a WEF groom in addition to shadowing an equine vet for the duration of a summer season. She has also managed several barns from four-stall private facilities to a 40 horse lesson/training/boarding operation.

Courtney has experience with a wide variety of horses. She rode hunter/jumper horses as a child/teen and has competed extensively in dressage, hunter under saddle, and western pleasure. She spent a few years in the Youth Quarter Horse world.

Most of the focus with her own horses remains dressage and western pleasure. Courtney has experience rehabbing rescue horses and follows the UC Davis re-feeding protocol

You can expect a patient instructor that will help you focus on your goals and one who understands that everyone learns in different ways and at different speeds.
